Biography
Rob has experience providing cyberinfrastructure resources and tools for high-profile, openly shared scientific projects. This includes the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particle detectors and the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO).
Quick has acted as the operations officer for the Open Science Grid, a high-throughput computing resource that delivers millions of CPU and GPU hours weekly to US-based researchers. Rob has designed and implemented several bioinformatics science gateways that cover drug discovery, protein docking, and gene co-expression networking.
Rob is deeply involved in national and international cyberinfrastructure and data-sharing projects, including as a funded member of the Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem: Services & Support (ACCESS) operations team and the co-chair of the technical advisory board of the Research Data Alliance (RDA). The RDA is an international organization dedicated to promoting the sharing of research data across domain and political borders.
Additionally, he has developed a data science curriculum and delivered this course material to early career researchers worldwide.
