Enhance your learning opportunities

The Fairbanks School of Public Health (FSPH) Honors Program offers select FSPH undergraduate majors the opportunity to enroll in a challenging academic program that will enhance learning opportunities while at Indiana University Indianapolis. Benefits to joining the FSPH Honors Program:

  • Increased opportunities to interact with FSPH faculty members
  • Greater depth of learning in your major
  • Enriched classroom discussions and learning experiences
  • Membership in the IU Indianapolis Honors College, which includes use of the Honors College facility with dedicated study space, computer lab, group workrooms, access to the Honors College advisors, and interaction with other Honors students
  • Honors notation on diploma and transcript upon successful completion of the program

Honors admission requirements

To be admitted to the FSPH Honors Program, you must:

  • Be admitted to the Fairbanks School of Public Health
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 IU Indianapolis credit hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5
  • Have a minimum of four remaining semesters
  • Be enrolled full-time at IU Indianapolis
  • Complete the FSPH Honors Program application

Honors program requirements

To successfully complete the FSPH Honors Program, you must:

  • Maintain a 3.3 semester and cumulative GPA
  • Earn a grade of ‘B’ or better in all Honors courses
  • Complete 24 total Honors credit hours, 15 of which must be in FSPH courses
  • Complete at least one, but no more than two, Honors courses each fall and spring semester

Selection of honors courses

Each student in the FSPH Honors Program must:

  • Complete 15 hours of FSPH major courses for Honors credit (see Honors contract section for more information)
  • Complete nine hours of Honors elective courses
  • Enroll in HON-H 200 for the fall semester (one credit hour)
    • Senior Portfolio as part of the 24 hours of Honors coursework requirement
  • Work with the FSPH undergraduate advisor to plan the selection and sequence of these Honors courses
