Keely Floyd has been named the 2025 recipient of the Barbara D. Jackson Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate Award, a prestigious honor recognizing IU Indianapolis faculty, staff and administrators who go above and beyond to create a welcoming, supportive environment for first-year students.
Presented annually by the Division of Undergraduate Education, the award celebrates individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to student success and the university’s teaching and learning mission. Floyd was nominated by colleague Sarah Johnson for her tireless advocacy, compassionate mentorship, and commitment to fostering a strong foundation for new students.
"Keely’s leadership and care have made a lasting impact on our campus community,” said Johnson, assistant dean of undergraduate affairs at the Fairbanks School of Public Health. “Our students, and our university, are stronger because of her.”
Floyd was recognized at the Division’s Spring Awards Convocation on Wednesday, April 9, in the Campus Center Theater.
The Barbara D. Jackson Award stands as a tribute to the many champions of student success across campus and a reminder of the importance of intentional support for students during their critical first year of college.
