When we launched this newsletter in March, we did so quickly and urgently, in order to share breaking news, important research updates and stories from our students, alumni, faculty and staff who have been on the frontlines of responding to COVID-19.
As 2020 draws to a close, this newsletter has built a regular readership that we are excited to continue reaching. Our plan is to transition this newsletter to showcasing the full breadth of amazing work happening at the Fairbanks School of Public Health.
After today's newsletter, we will be taking a break until 2021. We will return with a quarterly version of this newsletter which will include the same great type of content, but showcasing the stellar work happening across our whole school.

Phase 3 findings from statewide COVID-19 study
Results from the third phase of a scientific study measuring the statewide prevalence of COVID-19 show that -- as of early October -- 7.8 percent of Indiana's population had been infected with the novel coronavirus.
Building on the methodology from this and previous phases, the IUPUI research team estimated that as of Nov. 20, the number of Indiana residents ever infected has increased to 10.6 percent of the population.

Nursing home COVID-19 ECHO
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Indiana Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network (NNHCAN) ECHO. This special ECHO program is geared specifically for nursing home leadership to build capacity related to COVID-19and protect residents and staff.
Nursing facilities joining the interactive community of practice are advancing improvements in COVID-19 preparedness, safety, and infection control.
Indiana’s NNHCAN ECHO launched the week of November 9. The program includes 16 weekly sessions designed specifically to assist with your most pressing COVID-related needs.
Public Health on Tap
Join us on December 9, from 5-6pm, for a virtual Public Health on Tap. Professor Ross Silverman will discuss the ethics and public perception of vaccines, including vaccine approval, prioritization of populations when there are limited resources, mandates and other issues.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Alumna Shares Journey to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Triple-Deployment
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Allison Miller, BS’15, MPH’17, has participated in three separate deployments for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In each position, she has relied on the education she received through the MPH in Epidemiology program at the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health and experience she gained during an internship at the Indiana State Department of Health.

Giving Tuesday
This Giving Tuesday, the school supported the FSPH Alumni Board Scholarship for first-generation college students who attend the Fairbanks School of Public Health.

If you believe you have COVID-19
IU Health has launched a virtual clinic to offer individuals in Indiana regardless of age free Coronavirus (COVID-19) screenings using the IU Health Virtual Visit app. Staffed 24/7 with IU Health physicians, advance practice providers and registered nurses, the clinic will screen patients from home, potentially eliminating the need to visit physician offices, urgent cares or emergency departments.
