IUPUI epidemiologist: We need more testing, but the data is improving
IUPUI epidemiologist Shandy Dearth says social distancing is working, and we don’t want to lose that momentum. Epidemiologists fear cutting that short too soon could just re-start the cycle. She explains the key indicators health experts are studying, and how regional re-opening plans are the way to go.
She also talks about keeping yourself safe at work, and your loved ones safe at home.

FSPH faculty member Shandy Dearth joined the Newswise expert panel to discuss the unique angles of the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects on all aspects of daily life around the world.
FSPH Professor Partners with Simon Property Group on Curbside and Reopen Policies
Dr. Jiali Han partnered with Simon Property Group to help define the company’s policies for curbside pick-up and reopening for more than 45 mall and outlet centers.
Student Turns Medxcel Internship into Long-term Opportunity
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Sam Snider’s role included conducting surveys with clients to monitor how Medxcel’s services are received. Snider now “monitors how clients and associates are interacting with the news sites and articles that Medxcel sends out regarding how hospitals can transform their physical environment to keep people socially distanced and safe.”
Contact Tracing Job Opportunity
ISDH is recruiting candidates for remote, paid contact tracing positions for the COVID-19 response in Indiana. The opportunity allows candidates to receive training in case investigation methods and epidemiology of infectious disease. Primary duties include calling individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 and their identified contacts. All work will be conducted from home.

If you believe you have COVID-19
IU Health has launched a virtual clinic to offer individuals in Indiana regardless of age free Coronavirus (COVID-19) screenings using the IU Health Virtual Visit app. Staffed 24/7 with IU Health physicians, advance practice providers and registered nurses, the clinic will screen patients from home, potentially eliminating the need to visit physician offices, urgent cares or emergency departments.
