IUPUI receives $10.5 million from city of Indianapolis to conduct COVID-19 contact tracing
The Indiana University Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI will hire, train and manage over 300 contact tracers to track the spread of COVID-19 in Indianapolis through Dec. 31.
In collaboration with Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Dr. Virginia Caine of the Marion County Public Health Department, the Fairbanks School received $10.5 million to expand contact tracing in the city. This funding is part of the nearly $80 million allocated by the City-County Council in June for programming aimed at helping residents impacted by COVID-19.

Scientists publish findings from 1st statewide COVID-19 random sample study in US
The results of the first statewide random sample study in the United States to measure the spread of COVID-19 indicated a general population prevalence of about 2.8 percent in Indiana.
This closely monitored study was conducted by the Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI in collaboration with the Indiana State Department of Health. The findings were published July 21 in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's scientific publication.
Dr. Nir Menachemi published an op-ed in The Conversation about the publication: Random testing in Indiana shows COVID-19 is 6 times deadlier than flu, and 2.8% of the state has been infected.

IU Health has launched a virtual clinic to offer individuals in Indiana regardless of age free Coronavirus (COVID-19) screenings using the IU Health Virtual Visit app. Staffed 24/7 with IU Health physicians, advance practice providers and registered nurses, the clinic will screen patients from home, potentially eliminating the need to visit physician offices, urgent cares or emergency departments.
