Nir Menachemi, PhD, MPH, was awarded the Myron D. Fottler Exceptional Service Award by the Academy of Management (AOM).
The Fottler award recognizes a member of the Health Care Management Division of the AOM who has provided extraordinary service. The award is not given annually, but only when the division identifies a suitable nominee.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Fottler award, which is considered the most distinguished award given by the Health Care Management Division,” said Menachemi, professor and dean of the Fairbanks School. “This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects a commitment not only to the profession but also to the community of colleagues and students who are dedicated to advancing health care management.”
To receive the Fottler award a nominee must have dedicated at least 10 years to the Health Care Management Division and to the profession and must have established a consistently strong presence in the division over a long period of time. The nominee must have served as a meaningful mentor, not only to colleagues and students at his or her own university, but also to others in the division.
“To be acknowledged for over a decade of service to the Health Care Management Division and the broader profession is truly humbling,” said Menachemi. “Throughout my career, I have sought to contribute meaningfully to our field and to support the growth and development of those around me. Being recognized for mentoring others—both within my own university and across the division—is particularly special, as I believe that nurturing the next generation of leaders is one of the most important contributions any of us can make.”
Menachemi received the award at a ceremony on August 12, 2024.
