INDIANAPOLIS - Nir Menachemi, dean, professor and Fairbanks Endowed Chair at the Indiana University Fairbanks School of Public Health, has been elected to the board of directors of AcademyHealth, the leading national organization advancing health services research and health policy. Menachemi’s three-year term will begin in January 2025.
AcademyHealth announced Menachemi’s appointment alongside two other new board members, Danielle Lloyd, senior vice president at America’s Health Insurance Plans, and Lucia Savage, chief privacy and regulatory officer at Omada Health. Together, they will contribute to AcademyHealth’s mission of generating and using evidence to improve health and health care.
As a board member, Menachemi will play a key role in shaping AcademyHealth’s strategic direction, providing oversight of programs and services, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. The board’s diverse membership reflects a multidisciplinary approach to health care, including representation from academia, membership organizations, technology, and health care delivery systems.
Menachemi is nationally recognized for his research at the intersection of health policy, medicine, public health and business. His work focuses on reducing costs, improving quality and increasing access to health care in the United States. He has published over 300 scientific articles in leading journals and received the AcademyHealth HSR Impact Award in 2021.
At Indiana University, Dr. Menachemi teaches in the Fairbanks School, Kelley School of Business and the IU School of Medicine. He also serves as a scientist at the Regenstrief Institute Center for Biomedical Informatics.
