The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) seeks to fill multiple faculty positions with varying responsibilities in research, teaching, and mentoring in the department’s academic programs. The positions are open rank and may be tenure-track, tenured, or fixed-term depending upon the qualifications of the applicant. The Department includes four successful academic programs and a diverse research portfolio addressing a wide range of significant health services, management, public health, and policy problems. Academic programs include (1) a BS in Health Services Management (one of the largest programs in the school), (2) the only CAHME-accredited MHA degree in the state (includes both residential and executive tracks), (3) a traditional PhD program, and (4) an MPH concentration in HPM that is offered face-to-face and/or online.
The Department’s research portfolio is housed within the Center for Health Policy and attracts funding from a wide range of funders including NIH, AHRQ, various state agencies, local public health departments, health systems, and numerous foundations. Work completed in the department was recently recognized with the HSR Impact Award from AcademyHealth and the Healthcare Heroes Award from the Indianapolis Business Journal.
The school and department benefit from close relationships with the IU Schools of Medicine and Nursing, the IU Kelley School of Business, the Regenstrief Institute, the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, various Indiana agencies and healthcare providers throughout the state.
The department seeks applicants for the following positions (please indicate which position is preferred in cover letter):
MPH Concentration Director (open rank / clinical or tenure track) position
The HPM MPH concentration is one of six options in the school-wide MPH program. The concentration director will support HPM students, represent the department at MPH curriculum and admission meetings, and help assure the relevancy and success of the HPM MPH curriculum and its graduates. The HPM concentration includes face-to-face and online tracks with plans for further growth in enrollment. Successful applicants for this position will maintain and enhance community partnerships benefiting students and the department, teach relevant departmental courses especially in the MPH program (online and face-to-face), mentor and advise students, and oversee internships in the concentration. Furthermore, incumbents will be expected to engage in scholarship (commensurate with rank and tenure status) especially in applied public health settings. Experience working in or with public health practice is highly desired.
Open rank – tenured or tenure track positions
We are recruiting up to two tenured or tenure-track faculty members with expertise in any area related to health policy and management including: health services research, policy and public health systems analysis, economics, information technology, health law and ethics, finance, organizational behavior, or related discipline. Preferred candidates will enhance or compliment the department’s research portfolio. An earned doctorate is required; rank will be determined based on qualifications.
Tenure track faculty members are expected to engage in funded and peer-reviewed published research, teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses, advise and mentor students. Junior candidates should have an established research agenda and exhibit potential as successful scholars. Senior candidates should have a proven record of successfully completed externally funded research; as well as publications in top peer-reviewed journals. Senior candidates will also be expected to mentor junior faculty and staff in the department.
