About Lung Cancer ECHO Series

In alignment with the Indiana Cancer Control Plan, the Lung Cancer ECHO series focuses on providing healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge to prevent, screen, and treat lung cancer more effectively.

This free, virtual program offers evidence-based strategies to help reduce lung cancer rates and improve patient outcomes. We aim to create a collaborative space to share resources, learn from one another, and make a meaningful change.

The Lung Cancer ECHO series meets online via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 12:00 - 1:00 pm ET.

Each session is designated with a specific professional audience in mind; however, every ECHO is open to all members of the health team, and we welcome the opportunity for cross-collaboration.

Participants can join the Lung Cancer ECHO series at any point in the 8-part series.

Recordings and resources from prior sessions are available through the ECHO Online Resource Library to all registered learners.

Free Continuing Education Credits

Live attendees are eligible to earn free continuing medical education credits with the Indiana University School of Medicine, specialty credits with the American Academy of Family Physicians, and credits for certified health education specialists with the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

Brent Anderson, BA

Brent Anderson

Cancer Educator | Indiana Department of Health

Brent Anderson attended DePauw University, Greencastle Indiana, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in June 1984. He is currently a practice coach for the Indiana Department of Health facilitating Primary Care practice transformation and quality improvement by providing hands-on, on-site, technical assistance to State-funded Federally Qualified Health Centers, Community Health Centers, Rural Health Centers, hospitals, and various other community partners across the State. Prior to joining ISDH Brent worked as a State Director for a tutoring company implementing quality improvement with standardized testing. Brent also has many years of experience working with health care provider teams in the pharmaceutical and biotech arena.

DuyKhanh P. Ceppa, MD, FACS

DuyKhanh P. Ceppa

Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery | Indiana University School of Medicine

Dr. Ceppa is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. She graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (BS in Biology) and Duke University (School of Medicine). Following General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery residencies at Duke University, she joined the faculty at IUSM. She is a general thoracic surgeon with a clinical focus on minimally invasive surgery and lung screening. 

Her research focus has been on patient outcomes and DEI in the discipline of CT Surgery.  Dr. Ceppa also serves as the Program Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery residency, an Associate Vice Chair of Professional Development and Diversity for the Department of Surgery, the Medical Director of the IUH Lung Screening Program, and the Deputy Chief of Surgery at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. 

Mirian Ramirez, MLIS

Mirian Ramirez

Librarian • Ruth Lilly Medical Library | Indiana University School of Medicine

Mirian joined the team at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library as a research metrics librarian, where she investigates and provides researcher support for analysis, use, and emerging applications of scholarly research impact metrics.

For over 10 years, she worked in library positions that involved business, economics, and social science information resources, including the Library of the Central Bank of Venezuela and the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administration (IESA) and at the Library of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in Santiago, Chile, where she was responsible for collection development and the library training program.

Mirian, a member of the Cancer ECHO team since 2020, provides database demonstrations and tutorials and shared specialized information with caregivers and health professionals.

Mary Robertson, MPH

Mary Robertson

Cancer Prevention & Screening Lead | IU Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center

Mary Robertson is a graduate of Purdue University and received her master’s degree in public health from the Fairbanks School of Public Health. Previously, Mary served as the executive director of the Indiana Cancer Consortium (ICC), Indiana’s statewide comprehensive cancer coalition. In this position, she convened diverse stakeholders to create meaningful change and reduce the cancer burden across the continuum of care.

Before transitioning into the Director role, Mary was the tobacco cessation and prevention manager with the ICC. Over the past seven years, Mary has worked and volunteered for several Indiana nonprofits and has a passion for improving the health of all Hoosiers.

Demarcus Sneed, MPH, CHES

Demarcus Sneed

Director | Indiana Cancer Consortium

Prior to coming to the ICC, Sneed worked as the program manager for the Office of Minority Health at the Indiana Department of Health, working with internal and external partners to accomplish the offices statewide minority health initiatives. Several years of experience in community health education and working with community coalitions from time at Purdue Extension as a health and human sciences educator.
